After all, these procedures have changed since the days of iPhone 7, 7 Plus! <\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">No matter how you hold your iPhone 8, 8 Plus, X, Xs, Xs Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max or XR in your hands, you&#8217;ll never have to guess what you need to press to hard reboot your iPhone or put it into <strong>DFU<\/strong> recovery mode to update or reinstall Firmware on your device. That&#8217;s probably one of the reasons that brought you to our site. <\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Now we&#8217;ll show you how to force a hard reboot, activate recovery mode or <strong>DFU<\/strong> mode on iPhone 8, 8 Plus, X, Xs, Xs Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max or XR.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Before we dive into the details, let&#8217;s take another look at the button names using iPhone Xs as an example. Now, the power\/lock button is called <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>Side button<\/strong>. We&#8217;ll continue to use this term to refer to it. The volume up <strong>plus<\/strong> (+) \/ volume down <strong>minus<\/strong> (-) buttons remain unchanged. <\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The circular button<\/strong>, or Home button, that you were used to on earlier models hasn&#8217;t appeared on iPhone X for obvious reasons, but it&#8217;s still there on iPhone 8\/8 Plus. To return it to a working state, you need to perform a forced restart. Forget (if you knew before) any other button combinations and follow the exact step-by-step instructions below. <\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The new <strong>iPhone restart<\/strong>button combination requires a little more manual dexterity. If it doesn&#8217;t work the first time, try again. <\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>STEP 1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Press and quickly release the volume up button <strong>plus<\/strong> (+). Then press and quickly release the volume down button <strong>minus<\/strong> (-). <\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>STEP 2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Now hold down the <strong>side button<\/strong> until the apple appears on the iPhone screen.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">You must press the buttons in this exact combination!<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">So much for the hard reboot. Try to be more nimble and try again! <\/span><\/h3>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Recovery mode on iPhone X and older<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Now let&#8217;s take a look at the options for when to activate Recovery Mode on <strong>iPhone X<\/strong> and older models. If a forced reboot didn&#8217;t help and recovery mode is not activated, <strong>DFU<\/strong> mode is the last option you can try at home without service. <\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">When restoring the device in <strong>DFU<\/strong> mode, the iOs operating system will be installed on the phone &#8220;<em>from scratch<\/em>&#8220;. All information stored on the phone will be lost. <\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">DFU mode can help in cases where the iPhone goes into a cyclic loop during the boot phase or periodically displays a blue\/red &#8220;death&#8221; screen.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>It is highly recommended that you read all the steps below carefully<\/strong> to understand the order in which and for how long you need to press this or that button. To enter <strong>DFU<\/strong> mode on iPhone <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8, 8 Plus, X, Xs, Xs Max, XR, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> you need to do the following:<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>STEP 1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Connect your iPhone to your computer and launch <strong>iTunes<\/strong>. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes. <\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>STEP 2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Press and release the <strong>plus<\/strong> (+) volume up button, then press and release the <strong>minus<\/strong> (-) volume down button, then press and hold the <strong>side button<\/strong> until the screen disappears.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>STEP 3<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Press and hold the <strong>side button<\/strong> and the <strong>volume down<\/strong> (minus) button simultaneously <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">for 5 seconds<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>STEP 4<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Then release the <strong>side button<\/strong> while holding down the <strong>minus<\/strong> (-) button for another <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">15 seconds<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>STEP 5<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; A message should appear in the iTunes window that the iPhone has been detected in recovery mode. The screen on the iPhone should remain off. <\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>STEP 6<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; If nothing happened or something appeared on the iPhone screen after the above steps, you miscalculated the time in seconds. So go back to <strong>STEP 1<\/strong> and try again. <\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">That&#8217;s all.
