How to reset your Apple ID password
When we create an Apple ID, we’re asked to create a fairly complex password that includes upper and lower case letters, numbers or other characters.
Because of this requirement, users are forced to make up passwords so complex that it is sometimes hard to remember them after a while. If you’re one of these users and you keep forgetting your Apple account password, we’ve broken it down for you here in a clear step-by-step guide.
Today, we’ll describe how to reset your Apple ID password, and get your device back to full operation in the Apple ecosystem.
Check your iPhone
You need to know your Apple ID to get the password. So simply open the app on your apple device Settings and click on your first and last name. Here’s your Apple ID!
Check your Mac
The same principle applies to Apple desktops and laptops, and many apps can’t be used without an Apple ID. You can check it in the System Preferences, just select the iCloud section and you’ll see your Apple ID information on the left.
It looks simple, but….
In practice, however, some cases are much more complicated. For example, when a user has forgotten not only the Apple ID password, but also the Apple ID login email address. Of course, if your device isn’t locked with a code you don’t remember, you can easily look into your iPhone or iPad settings and see the email address to which your Apple ID is linked.
But if your phone is locked with a code and you don’t remember it like you do your Apple ID credentials, here’s a tip. Apple ID (or login) is always e-mail address!
We assume you used one of your personal email accounts when you registered your Apple ID. So now you’ll need to remember how many email addresses you have and where they are.
Then try logging in to each mailbox and looking for Apple emails of one kind or another. The mailbox where you find those emails is most likely your Apple ID management email.
Now that we know the identifier (i.e., email), we can start resetting your Apple ID password. As usual, you have several options to choose from. Which one you choose depends on what information you’re guaranteed to remember.
