The sanctions imposed by the US on Huawei, depriving it of the possibility to cooperate with US corporations, have led to unexpected consequences. Not only is Huawei under threat, but Apple has also faced a boycott of its products by the local population, which has thus decided to express solidarity with the domestic manufacturer. But Ren Zhenfey, the founder of Huawei and a longtime fan of Apple technology, made it clear that this is not the best way out.
Zhengfei is not allowing Apple technology to be banned in China for revenge. He says what happened to Huawei will certainly hit it, but this blow won’t be enough to break the company and destroy its business. That’s why Zhengfey says it would be foolish to start avenging a company that had nothing to do with what’s going on.
Apple vs Huawei
“First, there will be no restrictions [o prodeji zařízení Apple v Číně],” the top executive promised in an interview with Bloomberg, “and second, if that happens, I will be the first to oppose such measures. Apple is my teacher. But can a student go against his teacher? Never.”
According to Zhengfei, Huawei’s main task now is to try to find a way out of this situation. Boycotting Apple’s technology, and even more so, banning its sale in China will not help Huawei “fix the plane that shouldn’t be at any cost.”
Will Apple be banned in China?
It’s very nice to hear such sensible thoughts from a person who has power and influence. However, to seriously believe that the Chinese government could impose a ban on the sale of Apple equipment would be more than naive. The fact is that the Chinese economy is largely dependent on Apple, which not only provides thousands of Chinese with jobs. But it also supplements the country’s budget with millions of dollars in tax deductions. You agree that it is stupid to kill the chicken that lays your golden egg.
